HAPPY AND UNPOLLUTED DEEPAVALI

I am a staunch Hindu yet I have stopped bursting Fire Crackers since over a decade. The reason was my son who decided that he didn't want to burst fire crackers for the sake of the animals ( pets & strays).

Apart from this the noise & smoke pollution reduces helping everyone to have unpolluted air to breathe. It reduces the unnecessary wastage of money. One can spend the same amount for feeding people at an old age home or at an orphanage or for a mid day meal to school children.

Not bursting fire works leads to lesser amount of hospital bills and electric bill as we use air conditioner and air purifier. The tradition of Fire Crackers started in 1400 AD so please think about it and stop.

Duam Palm Tree.

As my vehicle travelled from Somnath in Gujarat to Diu , I witnessed a rare species of palm trees. I had never seen it before & it mesmerized me.

I questioned the driver and came to know few details about the tree. It prevents cyclonic storms to certain extent & withstands the cyclone.

As I came home, I researched further information & came to know that it is a Triassic tree and is common in some parts of Africa. Even the Pharaohs tomb in Egypt had this tree fruits and children in Egypt eat its flesh. A local drink known as Tadi is prepared in Diu.

I also got to know that the locals have a belief that if a friend plants this tree at ones home, it will become a female palm tree otherwise if we plant on our own, it becomes male.

Some believe that the palm trees were brought by the Portuguese and some say that it has remained since the time Indian land broke down from African land.

Dwarka in Gujarat

It is a beautiful ancient temple town and I made my journey of more than 12 hours through 2 flights and cabs. I love Krishna since childhood and wanted to see him in Gujarat since ages.
Finally, I have arrived. The only sad part is the temple town isn't a bustling hub like Tirupati or any South Indian pilgrimage places that I have been to nor like the North Indian towns of Uttar Pradesh.
